Google AI Overviews Now Accessible to Signed-Out Users in the US

Google has confirmed that all US searchers will soon be able to view AI Overviews without having to log in.

All US users will now be able to see Google AI Overviews, even if they are not logged into their Google account. After we observed Google testing it this morning, Google has confirmed with Search Engine Land that AI Overviews are available for signed-out US users.

Why it matters AI Overviews may alter click behavior from Google Search results as more and more searchers see them. Publishers have good reason to be skeptical of Google's claims that AI Overviews should result in increased traffic for them. This is especially the case given that Google does not provide publishers with distinct impression and click data from Search Console for AI Overviews.

As Lily Ray pointed out, this also means that SEO tools will be able to better track these AI Overviews. Additionally, seoClarity's Mark Traphagen confirmed that his toolset is viewing AI Overviews in private mode.

Even though AI Overviews appear to be present for the foreseeable future, it is our responsibility to ensure that publishers and content creators receive traffic from Google Search.
