KT and Microsoft forge a five-year multibillion-dollar AI and cloud partnership

Microsoft and KT signed a five-year, multi-billion dollar agreement to develop AI services and improve KT's infrastructure in South Korea. The agreement builds on a strategic partnership established earlier this year. It highlights our shared commitment to innovation in AI, cloud and IT.

KT is investing heavily in AI, cloud and IT improvements, while Microsoft will focus its resources on infrastructure development and personnel. Key projects include customized large language models such as ChatGPT-4o and smaller language models designed for the Korean market, targeting KT and its enterprise clients.

The cooperation also includes the creation of a secure public cloud infrastructure, the launch of a joint research and development workplace and IT projects to modernize the KT infrastructure. In addition, KT plans to establish an "AX service company" to deliver advanced Microsoft Cloud and AI solutions in Korea, with potential expansion to other Southeast Asian markets.

Together, the companies expect to lead the AI ​​transformation for more than 650,000 businesses and 17 million consumers across Korea, further cementing their strategic alliance in the region.
