Anthropic Unveils $1.5 Billion Joint Venture With Wall Street Firms
Anthropic is partnering with major financial firms including Blackstone and Goldman Sachs, along with several other Wall Street investors, to establish a new joint venture focused on delivering artificial intelligence solutions to businesses—particularly those owned by private-equity firms. The announcement, made on Monday, confirmed earlier reports.
The initiative will function as a consulting extension of Anthropic, helping organizations integrate AI technologies into their day-to-day operations. This includes advising portfolio companies of private-equity firms on how to effectively adopt and scale AI-driven processes.
Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman are expected to lead the investment, each contributing around $300 million. Goldman Sachs is reportedly investing approximately $150 million, while additional participants include General Atlantic, Leonard Green & Partners, Apollo Global Management, GIC, and Sequoia Capital. Altogether, the venture is expected to raise about $1.5 billion.
At the same time, OpenAI is reportedly exploring a similar partnership model with private-equity firms to expand the reach of its own AI tools. Both companies are targeting enterprise clients, especially those focused on improving operational efficiency and reducing costs.
Anthropic is currently regarded as a strong player in the enterprise AI segment, though OpenAI continues to expand its presence. The company is also considering a potential IPO as early as this year, supported by rapid revenue growth driven in part by its coding solution, Claude Code.
Meanwhile, News Corp, which owns The Wall Street Journal, maintains a content licensing agreement with OpenAI.
