Theoriq Hosts Hong Kong Event on Onchain Asset Trends: RWA, AI, and Institutional Yield Strategies
An industry-focused event centered on emerging trends in on-chain assets—covering RWA, AI, and institutional yield strategies—brought together more than ten experts from global asset management firms, blockchain infrastructure providers, RWA issuers, and investment institutions. The sessions explored key topics such as tokenized assets, on-chain treasury management, AI-powered investment strategies, and macro-level institutional allocation.
Co-hosted by Theoriq and ME Group, the event titled “Onchain Allocators: RWA Vaults, AI and Institutional Yield” was successfully held in Hong Kong on April 22. It featured a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions addressing innovations in tokenization, vault-based strategies, and AI-driven financial models.
During the opening session, Pei Chen highlighted the growing complexity of the on-chain ecosystem, emphasizing that AI is becoming essential for managing risks, analyzing data, and identifying strategies in real time. She explained that the rapid expansion of multi-chain environments and evolving protocols has created a need for advanced tools beyond human capabilities.
She also introduced two treasury products from Theoriq. The Ethereum Vault delivered around 3.5% annualized returns in Q1 using strategies like lending spreads and arbitrage, while maintaining limited downside risk. Meanwhile, the Gold Vault (XAUT) achieved similar returns by leveraging tokenized gold as collateral, combining yield strategies and efficient capital utilization. She noted that bringing gold on-chain enables it to generate yield—something not feasible in traditional finance.
Other speakers shared insights on institutional investment approaches, compliance frameworks, and AI applications. Selina Su discussed how assets like Bitcoin are showing reduced volatility over time, reflecting increasing market maturity. She also pointed out that major institutions, including the Harvard Endowment Fund, are integrating digital assets into long-term portfolios due to their diversification benefits.
Peter Wang provided an overview of the RWA market, estimating the current value of tokenized assets at around $29.1 billion. He explained that U.S. Treasury tokenization dominates the sector, followed by commodities like gold and private credit assets. He also stressed that tokenization alone does not guarantee liquidity if the underlying asset lacks it, and highlighted regulatory considerations across regions.
Iris Sun spoke about the rise of AI-powered portfolio management, describing how AI agents are being integrated into asset management systems. These innovations include tokenized funds, automated investment accounts, and API-driven ecosystems, all designed to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency.
Two panel discussions further explored tokenized precious metals and AI-driven DeFi models. Experts noted that tokenized gold still represents a small portion of the overall gold market but holds strong growth potential, especially as it evolves into a yield-generating asset. However, challenges such as asset verification, redemption mechanisms, and trust in issuers remain.
In discussions on AI agents, participants pointed out current limitations, including accountability and lack of credit systems. They suggested that human oversight, structured permissions, and transparent decision-making processes are essential for managing risks and addressing regulatory concerns.
The event concluded with consensus that on-chain asset management presents significant untapped opportunities. Experts emphasized that combining the reliability of RWA with the intelligence of AI could redefine digital asset strategies, shaping the future of institutional finance in the coming decade.
