Suki’s AI Assistant Deploys at More than 12 New Health Systems Leveraging MEDITECH Integration, Improving Clinician Well-Being Nationwide

Suki, the leader in artificial intelligence (AI) technology for healthcare, today announced it is deploying its technology in more than a dozen health systems on MEDITECH Expanse, including St. Mary's Healthcare and Decatur County Memorial Hospital. With this announcement, Suki furthers its mission of making healthcare technology invisible and assistive so clinicians can focus on patient care. Through its deep integration with MEDITECH, a leader in healthcare technology that offers one of the largest electronic health record systems, Suki provides MEDITECH Expanse users with a fully-fledged voice AI assistant, allowing for voice AI to fit seamlessly into clinicians’ day-to-day workflows. Suki Assistant also includes AI-powered dictation for MEDITECH Expanse, combining the power of voice-to-text and generative AI technologies so users can easily use voice to complete any field in the EHR.

“As the ambient AI space has become more crowded in recent years, Suki has sought to become the platform where we not only get deployed in health systems, but are actually utilized day-in-and-day-out to improve interactions for clinicians and patients alike,” said Heather Miller, VP of Partnerships for Suki. “A key to accomplishing this mission has been focusing on EHR integrations with incredible partners like MEDITECH, which has driven adoption of our product and placed us directly with great health systems like St. Mary’s and Decatur.”

Since Suki announced its collaboration with MEDITECH last year, numerous health systems have partnered with Suki, including Citizens Memorial, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, Ozarks Healthcare, Goshen Health, and Holyoke Medical Center. As MEDITECH’s first integrated voice AI solution for clinicians, Suki is reducing administrative workload and cognitive burdens while improving the quality of their notes.

St. Mary’s Hospital chose Suki as its AI partner because of its deep integration with MEDITECH. St. Mary’s clinicians started with Suki Assistant in early 2024 and experienced near-immediate positive benefits in reducing documentation burden and increasing note quality. The first cohort of users reduced the time to note completion by 50 percent, an important factor in both delivering care and receiving reimbursements in a timely manner.

“St. Mary’s is committed to providing the best possible experience for our clinicians and patients alike. Ambient listening has demonstrated it can help us achieve both these goals - our clinicians who use Suki tell us not only are they experiencing significantly less administrative burden, they are able to engage with their patients in a deeper way,” said Julie Demaree, Executive Director of Clinical Innovation and Transformation at St. Mary’s Hospital. "We are very pleased to make Suki accessible across our organization so clinicians and patients can experience these benefits."

The vision of Decatur County Memorial Hospital is to be the gateway to health and wellness in the communities they serve by delivering quality healthcare and wellness leadership through best practices and innovative partnerships. Decatur has invested in game-changing technology advancements that significantly improve access to care and overall patient experience, including the launch of same-day appointment service and self-schedule appointments in 2024. Its partnership with Suki has resulted in impressive improvements in clinicians’ feelings of burnout and time spent on documentation, creating more bandwidth for clinicians to focus on patient care.

“Suki has helped me not only complete my documentation more quickly, it has also improved the detail of what is captured in my notes,” said Natasha Struewing, nurse practitioner. “As a critical access hospital, the number of patients who seek care on any given day can vary widely. With Suki, I can see more acute patients and provide the care they need in a timely fashion, which is essential in achieving the best outcomes possible. I feel fortunate to be part of an organization that recognizes and invests in solutions that meaningfully impact both clinician and patient experience.”

“Suki has enabled me to find a better work/life balance since I no longer have to spend 12 hours on the weekend completing charts. Credit goes to our Administration and specifically Amy Wickens, Executive Director of Physician Practice and Support Services, for providing us with such a great tool and investing in innovative technologies. It has been a game changer for patient documentation,” said Anjum Fazlani, MD.

As a result of its deep bidirectional integration with leading EHRs including MEDITECH, Epic, Cerner and Athena, Suki boasts an industry-leading 70+ percent adoption rate among clinicians. Earlier this year, KLAS Research surveyed 15 organizations using Suki, who scored the technology 93.2/100 due to high satisfaction levels on delivering quick ROI, affordability, accuracy of documentation, and high-quality customer engagement.

"Incorporating ambient listening into physician documentation has proven to go beyond reducing documentation burden to also improving the overall quality of the documentation as well as physician satisfaction," said MEDITECH Director of Product Management Rebecca Lancaster, CPM. "Our partnership with Suki is focused on continued evolution of the solution, adding new skills such as the ability to queue orders. We are thrilled with the impact of ambient listening thus far and are excited to broaden this impact as we work with Suki to enable even more functionality.”
