Accenture ties up with OpenAI to equip thousands of its employees with ChatGPT

Accenture has announced a major partnership with OpenAI to equip tens of thousands of its IT professionals with ChatGPT Enterprise, marking one of the firm's largest AI enablement initiatives to date. The move comes as Accenture deepens its focus on AI-driven transformation to meet growing enterprise demand across global markets.

Following the announcement, Accenture’s shares rose more than 2.8% in premarket trading.

As part of the collaboration, Accenture and OpenAI will also launch a new enterprise-focused artificial intelligence program aimed at accelerating AI adoption across key sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and retail. The initiative will help organizations integrate AI-powered workflows, improve operational efficiency, and unlock new innovation opportunities.

The drive toward AI implementation comes amid uncertain government spending and a challenging economic environment. In response, Accenture has intensified its restructuring efforts — including an $865 million workforce realignment — to boost efficiency and strengthen its competitive edge in AI-led consulting.

Despite broader industry concerns over the impact of advanced AI on consulting jobs, Accenture stated that ChatGPT Enterprise will be used to enhance productivity across internal teams and client projects, while also accelerating upskilling and AI literacy across its global workforce.

The partnership reinforces Accenture’s strategy of embedding AI across its operations and service offerings as enterprises worldwide shift rapidly toward intelligent automation and digital transformation.
