AMD Introduces Next-Generation AI Solutions, Predicts $2 Trillion Compute Market by 2030
AMD has projected that the global AI compute infrastructure market will expand from USD 365 billion in 2025 to nearly USD 2 trillion by 2030, reflecting an expected annual growth rate of around 40%. The forecast was shared during the company's Advancing AI Summit 2026, where AMD also introduced a range of next-generation AI products, including advanced processors and infrastructure solutions.
Speaking at the event, AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su said artificial intelligence has rapidly evolved from chatbot applications to advanced reasoning models and is now entering the age of agentic AI, where intelligent systems can independently perform complex, multi-step tasks. She noted that this shift is significantly increasing global demand for high-performance computing.
Su described AI as one of the most transformative technologies of the past five decades, emphasizing that the industry is still in its early stages despite its rapid progress. She added that AI inference is becoming the dominant workload as organizations move from training models to deploying them at scale. AMD expects inference to account for nearly 60% of worldwide AI computing capacity this year.
According to AMD's projections, the AI accelerator market could reach approximately USD 1.4 trillion by 2030, while the server CPU market is expected to exceed USD 200 billion, fueled by the growing adoption of AI agents across enterprise environments.
AMD also reaffirmed its commitment to an open AI ecosystem by promoting flexible hardware and software platforms that support AI deployment across cloud data centers, edge devices, and personal computers. The company believes open technologies will play a key role in accelerating AI innovation across industries.
Among the major announcements was Helios, AMD's rack-scale AI infrastructure that combines Instinct GPUs, EPYC processors, Pensando networking, and ROCm software into a unified platform. Commercial shipments of Helios are expected to begin later this year, offering data centers improved performance while addressing increasing demands for power efficiency, cooling, and networking.
Highlighting Helios' capabilities, AMD stated that the platform delivers higher compute performance, increased HBM4 memory capacity and bandwidth, enhanced networking performance, and improved inference efficiency compared to competing AI infrastructure. The company also emphasized better cost efficiency by delivering more AI tokens per dollar.
The Advancing AI Summit 2026 attracted more than 10,000 attendees, including executives, developers, researchers, cloud providers, and enterprise leaders. Representatives from Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, Oracle, Microsoft, and xAI participated in keynote sessions, reflecting strong industry collaboration around next-generation AI technologies.
Meta's Head of Infrastructure, Santosh Janardhan, noted that the rapid growth of AI workloads is driving demand for integrated data center architectures where CPUs and GPUs work together. He emphasized that server processors are becoming increasingly important alongside AI accelerators in supporting advanced AI applications.
AMD also announced that Anthropic plans to deploy up to 2 GW of Instinct MI450 Series GPUs through the Helios platform, with initial deployments expected in the first half of 2027. Additionally, Microsoft intends to utilize Helios to power Azure AI services and frontier AI model inference.
India is also playing an important role in AMD's AI expansion strategy. Earlier this year, AMD and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) revealed plans to establish India's first Helios-powered AI infrastructure supported by a data center blueprint capable of scaling up to 200 MW. The initiative places India among the key global markets participating in AMD's next-generation AI infrastructure rollout, reinforcing the country's growing significance in the evolving AI ecosystem.
