Apple’s AI-Powered Tabletop Robotic Device: The Future of Smart Homes

According to a report, Apple may be working on an AI-powered tabletop robotic device for smart home automation that uses robotics to control a variety of smart home devices. The device would be compatible with an iPad. The alleged gadget is said to have a robotic arm that can move an iPad that serves as a screen at the top. This development expands on a previous claim that the tech giant with its headquarters in Cupertino could introduce Apple Intelligence, its suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features, to its smart home devices, but none of the ones already in use would receive it. Apple Intelligence features, on the other hand, would be found in a device still in development.

Apple Tabletop Robotic Device According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, which is behind a paywall, Apple's alleged smart home device would be essentially an iPad with AI features that would be attached to a robotic arm. It is possible that it has actuators that can tilt and even rotate the display 360 degrees. It is said that the device was given the codename J595. The company is said to have approved the device's concept in 2022, but its development has only picked up speed in recent months.

It would serve three purposes, according to Gurman. The first would be a smart home command center that would control all connected home devices. It could also be used for video conferencing, and its 360-degree rotatable robotic arm could help it mimic the user's head movement during a FaceTime call. Additionally, the alleged device is said to be useful as a tool for controlling home security from a distance.

According to previous reports, the forthcoming device might be Apple's first home device to feature Apple Intelligence features. According to Gurman, Siri, the company's AI-powered voice assistant, could be used to control it. It is thought that by turning the screen so that it faces the speaker, it would respond to commands like "look at me" by using the robotic arm.

In an April report, Gurman first mentioned the device, describing it as "an advanced table-top home device that uses robotics to move a display around." It was said that John Giannandrea, Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and AI Strategy, was in charge of its development at the time, along with its engineering division. Matt Costello and Brian Lynch, two additional Apple executives, were reportedly involved in the undertaking.

However, the most recent report suggests that the tabletop device's development is solely the responsibility of Kevin Lynch, who was in charge of the Apple Car project, which has since been shelved. The manufacturer of the iPhone is said to be working on bringing the product's price down to $1,000 (roughly Rs. 84,000).
