Apple plans budget-friendly Vision Pro and Smart Glasses in AR and VR expansion

Apple is reportedly advancing its efforts in the augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) markets with new device plans. Leaks suggest the company is preparing to launch a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset as soon as next year. Additionally, Apple is developing smart glasses, expected to debut several years later.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, detailed in his Power On newsletter, Apple remains committed to enhancing its headset technology despite challenges with the original Vision Pro. The company is reportedly working on a cost-reduced variant of the Vision Pro, anticipated to be available by 2025. This new model is expected to offer fewer features than the high-end version.

Reports suggest that the budget Vision Pro could be priced between $1,500 and $2,000, a notable decrease from the current model’s price. To achieve this lower price point, Apple may cut costs by omitting certain sensors and cameras or using less expensive materials.

In addition to the Vision Pro, Apple is also developing AR glasses, which are still in the experimental phase. These smart glasses, intended to compete with products like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, may face technical delays but are projected to launch around 2027.

These developments highlight Apple’s ongoing commitment to expanding its AR and VR product lineup, aiming to reach a broader consumer base. While specifics are still emerging, the tech community is eagerly awaiting more details on these upcoming innovations.
