Deezer says 44% of songs uploaded to its platform daily are AI-generated

Deezer revealed that AI-generated songs now account for 44% of all new uploads on its platform. The company is currently receiving close to 75,000 AI-created tracks each day, totaling over two million per month.

Despite this surge in content, listener engagement with AI-generated music remains minimal, contributing only 1–3% of total streams. Notably, around 85% of these streams are flagged as fraudulent and subsequently demonetized.

The data reflects a sharp and ongoing rise in AI music uploads. Earlier this year, the platform recorded approximately 60,000 AI tracks per day in January, compared to 50,000 in November, 30,000 in September, and just 10,000 in January 2025—when its AI detection system was first introduced.

Tracks identified as AI-generated are excluded from recommendation algorithms and editorial playlists. Additionally, the company has decided to stop storing high-resolution versions of such content.

This update follows a recent milestone where an AI-generated song reached the top of iTunes charts across countries including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, and New Zealand.

According to CEO Alexis Lanternier, AI-generated music is no longer a niche category. He emphasized the need for industry-wide collaboration to protect artists’ rights and ensure transparency for listeners. He also noted that their detection technology and early measures have helped reduce fraud and revenue dilution associated with AI content.

A survey conducted by Deezer last November revealed that 97% of participants were unable to distinguish between AI-generated and human-created music. Furthermore, 52% believed AI-only songs should not compete with human-made tracks in official charts, while 80% supported clear labeling of AI-generated content.

Deezer began tagging AI-generated tracks in June 2025, becoming the first streaming service to implement such a system. By the end of that year, more than 13.4 million AI tracks had been labeled on the platform.

Other platforms are also responding to this trend. For instance, Qobuz has announced plans to introduce similar tagging features, while services like Spotify and Apple Music are adopting varied strategies, including filtering low-quality AI content and encouraging transparency through distribution partners.

Voice Of Osiz

The rapid surge of AI-generated music on platforms like Deezer highlights how generative AI is reshaping the digital content ecosystem at an unprecedented scale. At Osiz, we view this as a strong indicator of AI’s growing creative capabilities, while also recognizing the challenges around authenticity, fraud, and fair monetization. The increasing need for AI detection, transparency, and governance reflects a critical shift toward responsible AI adoption. As seen across platforms like Spotify, the industry is moving toward balancing innovation with regulatory and ethical frameworks. The low consumption yet high production of AI content signals a gap between capability and user trust. This creates opportunities for advanced AI solutions focused on content verification and rights management. As an AI Development Company, Osiz continues to build intelligent, scalable systems that empower businesses to harness AI responsibly while ensuring security, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
