Fortnite’s Disney Universe Reaches Stable Build, Insider Reports

Epic Games and Disney previously announced a major collaboration to introduce a Disney-themed universe within Fortnite.

According to well-known Fortnite insider HypeX, the highly anticipated Disney Collab has now transitioned into a stable build/branch. While this does not confirm an exact launch date, it indicates that development is progressing steadily on this large-scale project.

In February 2024, Disney revealed a $1.5 billion investment to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games, forming a partnership to build an all-new games and entertainment universe within Fortnite.

A teaser trailer showcased an expansive world composed of multiple themed islands, each inspired by beloved Disney franchises. The central hub features a Disney Castle, leading to different zones themed around Wreck-It Ralph, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Monsters University, Iron Man, Star Wars, Disney Cruise Line, and properties from ESPN, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and 20th Century Fox.

Built on Epic’s Unreal Engine, the universe is expected to launch soon, offering players the ability to create, explore, and share their own interactive experiences.

Disney CEO Bob Iger described this partnership as Disney’s largest gaming venture, bringing legendary franchises into Fortnite in an unprecedented way. He emphasized the opportunity for growth and expansion, allowing fans to experience their favorite stories in new and innovative formats.

Disney has collaborated with Epic Games multiple times since Fortnite introduced crossover character skins in 2017. Over the years, characters such as Indiana Jones, Jack Skellington, Baymax, the Incredibles, Maleficent, Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and numerous Marvel and Star Wars icons have appeared in the game.
