Intel CEO to oversee its AI efforts after executive departs for OpenAI

Intel announced that CEO Lip-Bu Tan will now oversee the company’s artificial intelligence and advanced technologies division, following the departure of its CTO, Sachin Katti, who has joined OpenAI.

Katti, who led Intel’s AI initiatives since a major restructuring in January, confirmed his move to OpenAI via X (formerly Twitter). He will now be responsible for designing and building the company’s compute infrastructure to support its artificial general intelligence (AGI) research and large-scale applications.

Intel expressed appreciation for Katti’s contributions, adding, “AI remains one of Intel’s top strategic priorities as we continue executing our roadmap for emerging AI workloads.”

The leadership transition highlights Intel’s strengthened focus on AI innovation under Tan’s guidance, while OpenAI continues to expand its computing capabilities with key industry hires.
