JPMorgan to Allow Clients to Buy Bitcoin, Says Jamie Dimon

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) will soon allow its clients to purchase Bitcoin (BTC) at $105,432.86, according to CEO Jamie Dimon. Dimon made the announcement during the bank’s annual Investor Day on Monday. This marks a significant shift in the bank’s stance on the digital asset.

"We are going to allow you to buy it," Dimon told shareholders, though he clarified that the bank has no intentions of holding Bitcoin in custody.
Dimon, who has long been critical of cryptocurrency, reiterated that he is still "not a fan" of Bitcoin, citing concerns over its use in illegal activities, such as sex trafficking and money laundering.

He also downplayed the hype surrounding blockchain technology, arguing that it is not as significant as it’s often portrayed, despite JPMorgan's ongoing investment in the space.

“We’ve been talking about blockchain for 12 to 15 years,” he said. “We spend too much on it. It doesn’t matter as much as you all think.”
Recently, JPMorgan's blockchain platform, Onyx, successfully conducted a test transaction on a public blockchain, settling tokenized U.S. Treasuries on the Ondo Chain’s testnet.
