MetaMask's new toolkit makes Web3 more accessible, eliminating the complexity of onboarding for users.
At EthCC, ConsenSys unveiled the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit, a transformative development in decentralized app (DApp) creation and Web3 user interaction.
This new toolkit announced through a press release shared with Cointelegraph, is designed to help developers build DApps and protocols that provide innovative user experiences.
The MetaMask Delegation Toolkit will be compatible with any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chain that supports a user operation bundler, including networks like Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon.
Dan Finlay, co-founder of MetaMask, mentioned to Cointelegraph that while the initial version is Ethereum-exclusive, components of the toolkit could be adapted for other chains.
A study by ConsenSys, involving 15,000 participants aged 18 to 65, revealed that many people find cryptocurrency complex and difficult to understand. Only 8% of respondents felt very knowledgeable about Web3, highlighting a gap between public understanding and Web3's potential.
The toolkit aims to bridge this gap by reducing repetitive user actions and minimizing direct interactions with Web3 infrastructure. It allows users to create custom policies for permissions and enforcement, letting them invite others to apps with specific allowances and flexible enforcement systems.
Key features of the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit include instant user onboarding without the need for extensions or app downloads and the elimination of seed phrase management. It is designed to completely remove user friction by eliminating pop-ups and constant confirmations, facilitating smoother interactions.
Additionally, it offers improved gas fee management, including options for gasless transactions and the ability to delay or reassign gas costs. Finlay explained that with this toolkit, users can specify conditions for actions on a site without needing constant confirmations, allowing for uninterrupted website interactions.
On July 3, ConsenSys also announced its acquisition of Wallet Guard, a security tool aimed at protecting digital assets from fraud, scams, and theft. This acquisition will enhance user security in the Web3 ecosystem by integrating Wallet Guard's features into MetaMask. Patrick Berarducci from ConsenSys stated that the integration would safeguard users from threats such as malicious DApps and scams.
