Planck launches layer-0 blockchain for artificial intelligence

Published: 2025-08-02 12:49:08 pm

In a move aimed at disrupting centralized AI dominance, Planck Network has officially launched a layer-0 blockchain tailored for decentralized AI applications. The new infrastructure is designed to support Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePINs)—a growing sector that merges hardware, token incentives, and distributed processing as alternatives to centralized cloud-based systems.

This launch positions Planck as a key player in the race to decentralize artificial intelligence, a field still largely controlled by tech giants like Google and OpenAI. “Currently, high-performance AI compute is heavily centralized in the hands of a few tech giants," a Planck spokesperson told Cointelegraph. The network aims to change that by enabling blockchain-powered AI applications that prioritize transparency, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

Core Revenue Model and Incentives

Planck’s blockchain protocol is designed to generate revenue through transaction fees, SDK usage, and developer tooling. It also introduces a dual-incentive mechanism to reward GPU operators based on proof-of-connectivity (uptime) and proof-of-delivery (resource usage). These features enable a trustless, performance-based system for compute providers.

Massive Cost Reductions in GPU-as-a-Service Model

Planck’s on-demand GPU rental service claims to cut computing costs by up to 90% compared to traditional cloud services. Since February 2025, the company has generated $1.5 million in revenue, primarily from GPU rental contracts. This positions Planck among top infrastructure providers like Vast.ai, CoreWeave, and Lambda, all of whom are tapping into the escalating demand for affordable AI compute power.

According to Precedence Research, the GPU-as-a-service market was valued at $4 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a 23% CAGR, reaching $32 billion by 2034. Planck's decentralized approach is expected to capture a significant share of this rapidly expanding market.

Competing in the Decentralized AI Race

Planck joins other blockchain-native AI efforts like Bittensor, which focuses on decentralized machine learning, and Fetch.ai, known for developing decentralized AI agents. However, Planck’s layer-0 foundation and infrastructure-centric approach provides a unique value proposition for developers and GPU operators alike.

As the crypto industry continues to explore AI integration, Planck’s initiative marks a significant step toward democratizing access to high-performance compute—one block at a time.
