Victoria Shi: Ukraine’s AI-Generated Spokesperson 

Ukraine has introduced an AI-generated spokesperson named Victoria to deliver official statements of the foreign ministry. Victoria Shi is the first digital spokesperson in history to aim for communication processes. Further, the Ministry of Ukraine depicts that the statements will be written by humans and will be just read by the AI-generated spokesperson. 

AI spokesperson Victrio dressed in a dark suit and presented herself as a “digital person” on a social media presentation. Her gestures, head moves, gesticulating her hands, and while speaking mimics human expressions. Apart from her appearance, the statement which she delivers is written and verified by humans. The ministry has strongly stated that the statement is not generated by Shi and not generated by AI. 

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister stated that this innovative approach is hailed as a technological leap positioning that Ukraine is at the forefront in technological advancements. Also, the minister revealed that the main reason for creating Shi was to save time and resources for diplomats.

The team behind Shi is called The Game Changers, as they have also developed virtual reality content on the war in Ukraine. Victoria's name is derived from the word "victory" and the Ukrainian term for artificial intelligence, reflecting her symbolic significance in representing Ukraine's technological advancements.

Victoria’s appearance and voice are modeled after the real person named Rosalie Nombre, who is a well-known singer and former contestant on Ukraine’s reality show, the Bachelor. Rosalie was born in Donetsk, which is now a Russian-controlled city in eastern Ukraine.  

Importantly, the ministry emphasizes that Victoria Shi and Rosalie Nombre are distinct individuals, with only Victoria delivering official statements. To prevent misinformation and ensure authenticity, each statement delivered by Victoria will be accompanied by a QR code linking to its text version on the ministry's website, providing transparency and accountability in communication.

Victoria Shi's role extends beyond mere presentation, as she will address critical issues such as consular services, which have recently sparked controversy. Ukraine's suspension of consular services for men of fighting age residing abroad has raised concerns, necessitating clear communication from the ministry, which Victoria Shi will facilitate.

In essence, the introduction of Victoria Shi represents Ukraine's innovative approach to diplomacy, combining human expertise with AI technology to enhance communication efficiency and transparency. As she becomes the official voice of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Victoria Shi embodies the intersection of tradition and innovation in modern diplomacy.
