Valora Introduces Mobile Platform for Web3 App Development

Peer-to-peer (P2P) payment firm Valora has recently introduced "Mobile Stack," a decentralized and open protocol launchpad specifically designed for Web3 decentralized applications (DApps) on mobile platforms.

Valora highlights in a press release that currently, only 8 out of the top 100 Web3 applications on DappRadar offer a mobile-native experience. The company aims to change this by providing Web3 developers with a straightforward and intuitive platform to create user-friendly, mobile-first DApps.

"User experience (UX) is often an afterthought in the Web3 space, and there is a significant gap in mobile experiences, despite the fact that smartphones are the primary devices used by seven billion people globally for online interactions and transactions," Valora stated.

While fintech and crypto apps like Robinhood Crypto and Coinbase have found success with mobile users, the decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3 sectors predominantly focus on desktop platforms. This may be due to the perceived challenges of developing mobile-first applications compared to PC and Linux.

Valora describes the current DApp user experience as "cumbersome," requiring users to combine wallet apps with browsers or desktop applications to interact with Web3 applications.

Mobile Stack is designed to serve as a flexible foundation for developers, offering the necessary protocols and features for Web3 functionality. Developers can customize this base to suit the specific needs of their DApps.

Among the first applications to launch on Mobile Stack are "Troopo," a savings and earnings app from Stake Capital, and Vana’s "ChatGPT Data DAO," a DApp aimed at empowering users to monetize their data.

Valora also envisions several use cases for its Mobile Stack platform, such as facilitating borderless P2P payments, simplifying onboarding for DeFi services, supporting universal basic income programs in emerging markets, and enabling "learn-to-earn" campaigns with partners like cryptocurrency exchanges.

Founded in 2020, Valora operates as a decentralized wallet on the Celo network. In 2021, the company secured $20 million in funding led by a16z and became an independent entity separate from Celo.
