Crypto Market Update: PayPal Receives US$53 Billion Joint Bid
The cryptocurrency market continued to show strength as major developments unfolded across digital payments, tokenization, decentralized finance, and blockchain regulation. Among the highlights, PayPal reportedly received a US$53 billion acquisition proposal, while the United States and the United Kingdom introduced a joint framework aimed at aligning regulations for stablecoins and tokenized assets.
Bitcoin and broader crypto market performance
Bitcoin (BTC) traded at US$64,920.63, gaining 0.5% over the previous 24 hours. The broader crypto and equity markets reacted positively after the latest US consumer and producer inflation data indicated easing price pressures, reducing expectations of additional interest rate hikes.
During the session, Bitcoin climbed to a three-week high of approximately US$65,200, while Ether (ETH) touched US$1,895, marking its highest level since early June.
Despite the upward momentum, analysts at Bitfinex suggested that the rally remains largely driven by derivatives positioning rather than strong organic buying. According to the firm, options traders continue to hedge against potential downside risks by purchasing protective put options instead of significantly increasing bullish exposure.
Market participants are closely monitoring the US$68,000–US$68,300 resistance range for Bitcoin, as a decisive breakout above this level could strengthen bullish sentiment, while failure to do so may result in another pullback.
Ether and major altcoins move higher
Ether advanced to US$1,924.45, recording a 2.7% daily gain.
Other leading cryptocurrencies also posted modest increases:
- XRP traded at US$1.11, up 0.1%.
- Solana (SOL) reached US$77.25, rising 0.5% over the same period.
Stripe and Advent propose US$53 billion acquisition of PayPal
Global payments company Stripe, together with private equity firm Advent International, has reportedly submitted a US$53 billion bid to acquire PayPal. According to Reuters, the consortium offered US$60.50 per share, representing roughly a 28% premium over PayPal's previous closing price.
The proposed acquisition comes after PayPal's market valuation declined significantly from its 2021 peak as competition from digital payment providers such as Apple Pay intensified.
If approved, the transaction would combine two major payment ecosystems while preserving PayPal's existing corporate structure. Industry observers also believe the deal could strengthen the stablecoin landscape by integrating Stripe's recently acquired Bridge payment infrastructure with PayPal's PYUSD stablecoin ecosystem.
PayPal's board has not yet issued an official response.
Securitize and Cantor Fitzgerald expand tokenized securities
Digital asset platform Securitize and investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald announced a strategic collaboration to facilitate tokenized IPOs and follow-on equity offerings.
Under the partnership, Cantor Fitzgerald will oversee traditional capital market operations, while Securitize will provide blockchain infrastructure to tokenize securities. The initiative allows publicly listed companies to issue and manage regulated shares using blockchain technology while maintaining compliance with existing securities regulations.
The announcement follows Securitize's own recent public listing through Cantor Equity Partners II.
US and UK coordinate tokenization regulations
The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom jointly introduced a roadmap designed to harmonize regulatory approaches for stablecoins, tokenized assets, and digital money.
Prepared by the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future, the roadmap outlines ten recommendations aimed at reducing regulatory differences between the two countries and supporting cross-border blockchain innovation.
Among the proposals are common standards for tokenized securities settlement, evaluation of stablecoins as collateral for clearing systems, and industry-led pilot programs focused on cross-border tokenization.
The initiative also supports fully backed payment stablecoins, aligning with principles introduced under the recently enacted GENIUS Act.
Aave V4 launches on Avalanche
Decentralized finance protocol Aave has deployed Version 4 on the Avalanche blockchain.
The latest release introduces a shared liquidity architecture that enables multiple lending markets to access a common liquidity pool. This design improves capital efficiency while supporting tokenized real-world assets and additional forms of collateral, extending decentralized lending beyond traditional crypto-native assets.
Ripple joins the x402 Foundation
Ripple announced its participation as a premier member of the newly established x402 Foundation, an initiative launched under the Linux Foundation to standardize blockchain-based payment protocols for AI applications.
The x402 protocol enables autonomous AI agents to perform machine-to-machine payments for digital services such as APIs, cloud computing, and storage using non-custodial wallets.
Ripple plans to integrate both XRP and its RLUSD stablecoin into the framework. Thanks to the XRP Ledger's fast settlement speeds and minimal transaction costs, the network is well-positioned for high-frequency AI payment use cases.
The XRPL Foundation also confirmed that the XRP Ledger recently surpassed one million AI agent transactions, reflecting increasing adoption of blockchain-powered automated payment infrastructure.
