SpaceX lands Google AI compute deal after Anthropic pact ahead of IPO
SpaceX has signed a long-term cloud computing agreement with Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, further expanding its presence in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market. The deal comes as the company prepares for its highly anticipated U.S. public offering expected in the near future.
According to regulatory disclosures, Google will pay approximately $920 million per month from October 2026 through June 2029 for access to SpaceX's computing infrastructure. During the initial ramp-up period before October, services will be provided at a reduced rate as capacity is gradually expanded.
The agreement includes access to a large-scale computing environment powered by approximately 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, along with supporting CPUs, memory systems, and related hardware components. The partnership adds another prominent technology customer to SpaceX's portfolio and strengthens the company's position in the AI computing sector.
Earlier this year, Anthropic entered into a separate agreement with SpaceX to utilize the full capacity of its Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. The facility contains more than 220,000 Nvidia processors and is expected to provide an additional 300 megawatts of computing power to support Anthropic's AI operations.
Combined, the compute infrastructure agreements with Google and Anthropic are estimated to generate roughly $26 billion in annual revenue. Based on the full contract durations, the total value of these disclosed agreements exceeds $70 billion, assuming both partnerships remain active through their scheduled terms.
The agreement also includes performance-related conditions. If SpaceX fails to deliver the agreed GPU capacity by September 30, Google may choose to terminate the contract after a one-month grace period or continue with reduced capacity and adjusted fees. Additionally, after December 31, either party can end the agreement by providing 90 days' notice.
Under the arrangement, Google retains full ownership and intellectual property rights over its AI models, content, and associated data hosted on the infrastructure.
